A FULL field of competitors played in the Tankard Foursomes competition at The Worcestershire Golf Club, when each pair pitted their wits against the par of each hole.
The pre-competition favourites, Peter Lupino and Wes Curtis, were amongst a group of five pairs who returned to the clubhouse with a score of two down. The competition committee was kept busy sorting out the five pairs on the usual count back system.
As a result, Peter and Wes were placed in eighth position. Veteran golfer, Stan Rone, playing with Bruce Duncan were placed seventh. In sixth place were Richard Burston and Dave Baker. Fifth place was allocated to John Wootten and Andy Longley.
The best pair returning the score of two down were Julian Bouchet and Mark Read, who were fourth.
Two pairs Chris Mason playing with the club's vice-captain Ron Richardson and Alan Watts playing with Carl Bayliss returned scores of one down. On count back Alan and Carl were placed in second position with Chris and Ron having to be satisfied with third place.
The winners of the Tankard Foursomes were Dave Jones and Colin Lane who returned the excellent score of all square.
Throughout the winter months the members have competed in the Winter Fourball Knock-out competition. With the onset of spring, Dave Farrell and Dave Harding played in the final against former club captain Mel Stocker and Chris Hardy. The Daves were in scintillating form and ran out easy winners by 4 & 3.
In the Ladies' Queen Mothers Cup competition, two players, June Jones and Jane Pinner, returned to the clubhouse with the same score of 37 points. June was placed fourth and Jane third.
