TWO Malvern schools - The Chase and Malvern Girls' College - have been given Sportsmark Gold awards.
Sportsmark is given to schools that provide a well-balanced physical education programme with a range of opportunities for students.
Sportsmark Gold is a higher award for schools that demonstrate an outstanding commitment to the provision of sport.
It is the third time that Malvern Girls' College has been granted the Sportsmark Gold award since its inception in 1997.
Headteacher Philippa Leggate said: "Gaining Sportsmark Gold again is a real achievement. PE and sport have always had a high priority at the college and this recognition by Sport England is very important."
At The Chase, each pupil gets at least two hours' PE a week and there is also an extensive programme of extra-curricular activities.
"The school is fortunate in having a most enthusiastic intake of pupils, supportive parents and exceptionally committed staff," said a spokesman.
