THE Soccer Site Malvern Football League's Rose Bowl final saw Hereford Lads Club complete a 100 per cent season with a hard fought 2-0 victory over a battling Barnards Green Juniors side.
The first half was fairly even with both sides having chances, poor finishing and fine form by Barnards Green Juniors goalkeeper Julian Robinson kept Lads Club goalless.
Barnards Green's best chance came when Lyndon Roberts broke clear only to be bought down on the edge of the penalty area by a desperate tackle from the last defender.
The resulting free kick saw the ball whistle past the post with the keeper beaten.
The second half saw Lads Club kicking down the slope and they got on top. But Barnards Green keeper Julian Robinson made several good saves before two goals in a couple of minutes by Simon Gwynn and Tom Maclean put Lads Club in the driving seat.
Robinson then earnt his man of the match award with a series of brave saves to keep the score at 2-0.
In the last couple of minutes Barnards Green had a couple of opportunities to pull a goal back but were denied by wayward finishing and good defending.
To their credit Barnards Green Juniors fought to the end with midfielder Stuart Bryant having a great game covering large areas of the pitch, which also put him in contention for man of the match. But it was the all conquering Hereford Lads Club who deservedly took the trophy.
