MALVERN Rugby Club's fears of relegation have become reality with the RFU announcement that the bottom five teams will go down from Midlands One.
Fourth from bottom Malvern and fifth from bottom neighbours Bromsgrove both finished on 18 points, the same number of points that has saved next-placed Walsall, who boasted a better points difference.
Malvern and Bromsgrove suffer the same fate as basement club Barkers Butts who lost all their 22 league games.
Barkers Butts, Kenilworth, Malvern and Bromsgrove all go down to Midlands Two West and Hinckley are relegated to Midlands Two East.
Malvern RFC first XV have had a mixed season with good results sprinkled with some close defeats and following a rebuilding period a hoped for run of late wins failed to materialise. A 25-24 defeat at Bromsgrove in the last match of the season sealed their fate.
Malvern, however, feel that they should be playing at Midlands One level and the club has every intention of going straight back up.
