HANLEY Swan world champion indoor rower Anna Bailey will be attempting to break her own marathon record again next weekend in aid of charity.
Following on from last year, Anna will row in public in Bell Square in Worcester's Crowngate Shopping Centre on Saturday, May 17, commencing at 10.30am with a scheduled finish just before 1.30pm.
Last year's time was 40 minutes inside the old record, and only 45 seconds outside the fastest time recorded by a woman of any age.
Anna has been in good form recently and took the gold medal at the Scottish Indoor Rowing Championships, held at the Ryan Centre, Stranraer, despite a knee injury.
Anna, of Evesham-based Old Wrecks IRC, took the 2k gold in the Women's 50-54 class in a restrained time of 7.16.1, but it was still enough to also clinch the overall fastest women's time of the day.
Recently at Evesham she set a new British Record for the Women's 50-59 10,000m, taking 23.9 seconds off her existing record to finish in 38.47.0.
She was also involved in the Women's 60 Minute Team Relay, with Megan Brown, Claire Cordory and Helen Barnett, and they added 1,130 metres to the old British record, a total of 17,449.
