WORCESTER Rugby Club's Scotland international Ben Hinshelwood is determined to prove his World Cup fitness to coach Ian McGeechan after four months on the sidelines.
The Sixways centre looked set for a place in the RBS 6 Nations squad after impressing in the autumn Test series. But, after fracturing his leg in a club game against Otley in January, the 26-year-old was forced to watch the tournament from the sidelines.
However, after being recalled for a training squad with Scotland next week, Hinshelwood insists he is out to make up for the disappointment of the Six Nations.
He said: "It has been four months which has been a long wait for me so it is good to get back into it. I thought four months was about right for this injury.
"I was hoping to get back before the end of the season for Worcester but didn't quite make it. But this is around the average time for this sort of injury."
Meanwhile, former Scotland international and British Lion Craig Chalmers has confirmed he will return to Melrose as first-team coach.
The 34-year-old fly-half won more than 50 caps for his country in a career which also saw him play south of the border at Harlequins and most recently at Worcester.
Chalmers is expected to combine his new role with playing and will meet next week with club officials to discuss the appointment of a forwards coach.
