CONFUSION over doorstep rubbish collections following the spring bank holiday sparked hundreds of telephone calls.
Many householders in Worcester assumed their rubbish would be collected a day later than normal because of the holiday.
But 18 months ago the city council decided collections would be made Tuesday to Friday, which means Monday bank holidays do not affect the service.
"Don't automatically assume that bank holiday means a switch in dates," warned Mike Harrison, head of operational services at the council.
"With the exceptions of Easter, Christmas, and unusual holidays, such as last year's extra Jubilee Day, domestic refuse collections now remain unaffected following public holidays."
"We've had literally hundreds of calls about this, despite advertising information about collections in the Press and on our website," he added.
Mr Harrison said householders should leave their rubbish out as normal following the next two bank holidays - at the end of May and at the end of August.
"We will be making further announcements about special arrangements for Christmas nearer the time, but if a bank holiday falls on a Monday, as most do, your collection will continue to be made as normal."
The same rules will apply when the city's kerbside recycling campaign starts on Tuesday, June 3.
