HEREFORD golfer David Park won £29,239 for finishing tied seventh at the Benson & Hedges International Open at the De Vere Belfry yesterday.
A closing round of 69 left him at three under for the tournament, eight shots adrift of winner Paul Casey who claimed victory and a first prize of £180,000.
Droitwich Golf Club's John Bickerton picked up a cheque for £8,949 and a share of 31st place with a closing round of 74 to leave him three over par.
Casey, who shared the third round lead with Padraig Harrington and New Zealand's Stephen Scahill, played consistently on a chilly afternoon in the West Midlands, while Harrington closed with a 75 for a seven under par total of 281.
Scotland's Paul Lawrie, Rolf Muntz of the Netherlands and Scahill shared third on 282.
Meanwhile, the final Benson and Hedges Internatrional Open also witnessed a new course record for as Sweden's Richard S Johnson produced a wonderful finish to the sponsors' involvement with six birdies and an eagle en route to a round of 64.
