A FORMER policeman arrested on suspicion of abducting a teenage girl has been granted extended bail pending further inquiries.
Matthew Brooks, aged 22, was ordered to return to Worcester police station at a future date while the Crown Prosecution Service decides whether he should be charged with abducting Naomi Mills.
The 15-year-old, of St John's, Worcester, was allegedly driven to northern Scotland by Mr Brooks in March, while he was a probationary constable with West Mercia police.
The Chantry High School pupil's disappearance on Friday, February 28 led to a nationwide police hunt after Brooks' car was found on a Highland beach in the Kyle of Tongue.
The pair were found by the Northern Constabulary two days later after a tip-off from a passing journalist.
A West Mercia police spokesman said Brooks was granted extended unconditional bail to a date to be fixed after attending Worcester police station on Thursday, May 8.
Mr Brooks was first arrested on March 4 and released on bail two days later. He subsequently resigned from the force.
