WORCESTER'S Nunnery Wood has been made spick and span with a little litter-picking help from Worcestershire County Council staff.
The clean-up operation was part of the on-going Rubbish? Sort It! campaign, which has been jointly organised by the Duckworth Trust and the council's Countryside Service.
Volunteers from County Hall gave up their lunchbreaks to collect crisp wrappers, cans, cigarette butts and carrier bags.
"The turnout has been great and it shows that county council staff don't just talk about taking care of the environment but take action too," said Liz Alston, one of the organisers.
"The day was a huge success and it's definitely made a difference.
"Nunnery Wood is visited by hundreds of people every day - families, children, dog-walkers, and nature-lovers, so it's very important that we keep it clean and tidy for everyone."
