SKIPPER Ben Smith is urging his Worcestershire troops to start moving up the Frizzell County Championship Division Two table by beating basement club Durham at Stockton.
The match gets underway tomorrow with the County, currently second from bottom, bidding for their first victory of the season following two home draws with Hampshire and Northamptonshire.
Smith said: "You look at Durham's results over the years they have played.
"They haven't exactly been the strongest side, but you can't go away and expect your opposition to lie down. They won't do that. They will fight hard.
"They have had a couple of new additions to their squad this year who are good players and they'll be looking to prove a point.
"We'll be looking to play good cricket, so we know where we are and then when we do get opportunities to win matches we finish games off.
"We've gone into all our games this season looking to win in a positive manner with a good attitude and I don't expect anything different against Durham."
Durham have had a draw and a defeat in their opening two matches.
Smith, whose side will be heading for Stockton on the back of yesterday's exciting tie with Zimbabwe at New Road, believes that playing on an out-ground instead of the Riverside will help the County in their victory bid.
"It's probably in our favour. It's not their home ground so we would look to go there early for some training," he said.
South African all-rounder Andrew Hall is set to make his Championship debut after performing well in his first appearance in the match with Zimbabwe.
He will replace David Leatherdale who has played in the County's opening two Championship games.
Smith said: "Hall did well against Zimbabwe. He got a couple of wickets and scored 100 runs in the match.
"He's been a little bit of a quiet achiever and I'm sure we'll see a lot more of him featuring in the rest of the season. He wants to play all cricket and at the best of his ability."
Paceman Mark Harrity is included in the squad despite suffering from a sore shoulder during the Zimbabwe match.
Worcs (from): Peters, Singh, Hick, Smith, Solanki, Hall, Batty, Rhodes, Kabir Ali, Hayward, Mason, Harrity.
