JUBILANT skateboarders came home with a clutch of prizes after Worcester's RampAge skate park fielded its first competition team.
Competing against skateboarders from all over the country at Radlands, Northampton, the boys achieved placings in both the under 12s and under 17s sections after giving three-minute displays of their skills.
Thrilled
Nine-year-old Harry Young, from Hereford, was thrilled to take second place in the under 12s, in what he described as his "first real competition."
"My best trick was a 'board slide and kink', but I couldn't see what the others were doing, because we all did it together," he said.
In the under 17s, 14-year-old Alex Fage, of St Peter's, Worcester, was placed third, Sam Bearsley (17) of Barbourne, was fourth and Mark Giles (17) of St Peter's, was sixth.
Alex, who has been skateboarding for two and a half years, said he could not remember much of what he did, apart from a '180 Indie transfer', which involved coming out of a quarter pipe and making a 180 degree turn onto a flat bank.
"The people we were competing against were good, but I think I could beat them next time.
"I want to do another competition," he said.
"We were chuffed to bits that they did so well," said RampAge owner Gabrielle Buckland.
