TV presenter Anne Diamond is paying a flying visit to Droitwich this week open a new centre for young families.

Famed for her role alongside Nick Owen on BBC 1's Good Morning with Anne and Nick and, more recently, Celebrity Big Brother, Anne will cut the ribbon at Westland's new WANDS building this Friday.

The visit by the 49-year-old former newsreader will form part of an open day to promote the facility next to Westlands First School, off Farmer's Way.

WANDS stands for Westlands and Neighbourhood Nursery development with Sure Start and is backed by Worcestershire County Council.

When it's officially up and running later this year, it will provide a nursery for the Westlands estate and advice services for young families on parenting health and education issues.

It will also offer a toy library and regular events for children.

The open day aims to promote these exciting developments and while parents gather leaflets and information, children can enjoy face painting, a bouncy castle and a magic show.

Divorcee Anne, a mother of four herself, is expected to arrive at 3.15pm.
