PLANS to create 300 new parking spaces at Worcestershire Royal Hospital are not enough to solve the parking problems there and in the nearby streets of Warndon Villages, says the chairman of the parish council.

The problems with hospital users and employees of the neighbouring businesses parking in nearby residential streets has been high on the agenda at Warndon Parish Council meetings, with residents concerned about the inconvenience to them and the increase in the likelihood of accidents caused by parked cars.

But plans to create 300 new spaces, revealed in Monday's Evening News, will not go far enough, said parish council chairman Bunny Clutterbuck.

"That's not going to ease problems in the estate," said Mr Clutterbuck at Monday night's monthly parish council meeting.

"There are already 300 spaces in use at the old Ronkswood site, which is going to close some day.

"It does annoy me because I have been saying this for a long time. They need a lot more than 300 spaces."

Parish council members also added the increase in parking charges could create further problems because it is free to park in the residential streets such as Dugdale Drive and Hoskyns Avenue.

Parish councillor David Easwood called for the hospital to carry out a survey to find out exactly how many spaces were needed.

"Until you know what the problem is, you can't solve it," he said.
