TWO Redditch snooker players have added the name of a former world champion to the list of opponents they have beaten, writes Steve Carley.
John Leach and Alan Belfield, who play for Rocklands and Batchley respectively, each won their frame against John Parrott MBE on Saturday.
The 1991 world champion was playing an exhibition as part of Redditch Snooker League's annual presentation evening at the Centrepoint Club, Ipsley Street.
Parrott played nine frames against league players, losing the first to Leach and the last to Belfield, which included a break of 40 for the Batchley player.
Across the nine frames, Parrott notched up 790 points, including back-to-back century breaks of 104 and 113 as well as a useful 98.
Parrott, who turned 39 on Sunday, is the third snooker star to visit the town in the last four years for the annual awards night.
Dennis Taylor, the 1985 World Champion, topped the bill 12 months ago while Matthew Stevens enjoyed a two-year stint before that.
