TWO pairs of champion golfers from Redditch Golf Club have been invited to compete in the prestigious European finals of a major tournament.
Diane Brian and Jayne Freeman won the Ladies title for the second year running, the first pair to retain the national title.
And clubmates Mark Goddard and Gill Russell won the Overall mixed title.
The foursome have been invited to take on all other International Pairs champions from the past four years of the tournament in a bid to become Champion of Champions.
The International Masters tournament will be the first championship played on the new Wales National course at the Vale Hotel Golf and Country Club.
And fellow Redditch members David Garaghon and Michael Lloyd-Court have won a trip to Scotland to compete in the largest competition for club golfers in the world after winning through to the International Pairs 2003.
If they make the cut they will visit the magnificent St Andrews Bay Golf Resort and Spa to compete in the two day televised grand final.
Redditch beat reigning West Midlands League Zone Three champions Halesowen 3-1 but the over 60s went down 6-1 to Atherstone.
The Ladies beat Fulford Heath 2.5-1 but their scratch team lost all five matches against The Worcestershire and a Redditch mixed team went down 7.5-4.5 to Gay Hill.
