RESIDENTS are being offered the chance to start tackling crime in their neighbourhoods.
People are needed to join a youth offender panel which is run by Worcestershire and Herefordshire Youth Offending Service.
Since April 2002, most youth offenders who appear in court for the first time and plead guilty receive a referral order.
These youngsters then appear before a youth offender panel comprising community volunteer panel members supported by a member of the youth offending team.
The panel devises and enters into a contract with the young person allowing them to make amends for their behaviour.
Anyone in Redditch, from all backgrounds and all sections of the community, could become actively involved in the criminal justice system.
No special qualifications or experience are needed and full training, support and expenses will be provided.
