BARNT Green Cricket Club's First XI endured a weekend of mixed fortunes.
Lyndon Jones' side had to settle for a losing draw at Coventry and North Warwickshire in the Birmingham Premier League but romped to a 143-victory against second division Walmley in the National Knockout.
Coventry & NW batted first on Saturday but once the initial joy of dismissing Aussie Nathan Dodd LBW to Chris Liptrot subsided, Barnt Green were made to toil by Keith Bell and Warwickshire all-rounder Graeme Wagg.
Bell eventually fell to Richard Wilkinson for 58 but Wagg went on to score 100. Coventry finished on 210-4 from 55 overs.
In reply, wickets fell regularly. Only Gavin Haynes (54 not out) and Simon Froggatt (25) looked like gaining the momentum needed to win.
Rain fell and Green had to settle for a losing draw with 70 required off 11 overs with six wickets already lost.
On Sunday, last year's Knockout runners-up made light work of Walmley.
With several players unavailable, Green delved deep into their playing reserves.
Richard Hall and Barry Clements both hit centuries while Matt Dallaway made 65 from 48 balls despite an achilles injury. Green finished on 318-6 from 45 overs.
In reply, Walmley never mounted a series challenge to their visitors' total. Alan White (4-47) was the pick of the bowling as Walmley finished on 175-4.
