GEOFF Woodward's final match in charge of Fernhill County Sports ended with a 1-0 win at Continental Star last night.

Gary Beadling's spectacular 12th minute strike in which he beat three defenders before smashing the ball into the roof of the net from the edge of the box, sealed the points and eighth place in the Midland Combination Premier Division.

Superb goalkeeping by Adie Hipkins gave the visitors maximum points to round off a fine season which also included victory in the Smedley Crooke Cup.

Woodward, along with Martyn Day and Mike Pugh, has taken over at West Midlands Premier Division outfit Bromyard Town.

The future for County Sports remains unclear, with the club forced to groundshare with Combination rivals Pershore while they have also lost their Claines Lane ground base to Archdale 73.

Woodward is relishing a fresh challenge after 12 years with Sports who he oversaw from Sunday morning league football to the Midland Combination.

"It's a good set up at Bromyard, the committee seem nice people and it's a fresh challenge after 12 years with County Sports," said Woodward.

"We started off in Division Three on a Sunday and made it all the way to the Midland Combination but have gone as far as we can.

"Bromyard has the base to push on a little bit whereas at Fernhill if we did happen to win the league because of the ground issue we couldn't take it any further."
