KIDDERMINSTER Harriers manager Ian Britton has released two players -- Dion Scott and Hugh McAuley.

The Aggborough boss blames the financial climate for his decision not to offer the pair fresh deals for next year's Nationwide League Division Three campaign.

McAuley, a midfielder who joined from Cheltenham Town on transfer deadline day in March and is a former Liverpool trainee, made just four substitute appearances for Harriers.

But defender Scott, who arrived from Mansfield Town on a short-term deal in February, pulled on the red shirt 19 times and scored one goal.

"This season will be financially harder for the club and unfortunately I can't keep everybody," said Britton.

"Hugh's attitude has been first-class but I have to look at the bigger picture.

"Dion is obviously disappointed not to be offered a new deal but, as with Hugh, the make-up of the squad for next season will be heavily influenced by the lack of money I have available.

"But he did very well for us and I'm sure he'll find another club very quickly. He leaves with our best wishes."
