EXHALL and Wixford enjoyed a good weekend, opening their account in the Cotswold Hills League Premier Division and winning in the National Village Knockout.
Scott Carmichael's side will face Leicestershire opposition again in the knockout after beating Cropston on Sunday.
Leon Gates took four wickets as Cropston were bowled out for 175 and Matt Gwynn led the reply with 84, abetted by Tom Heneghan (52no) as the villagers reached their target for the loss of five with six overs to spare.
Exhall, given a bye in the first round, will travel to face a Bardon Hill side who have yet to play in this year's contest after two byes.
The next round is set to be played on Sunday, May 25.
And Wixford saw off Tanworth-in-Arden on Saturday as they completed their first Premier Division fixture.
But it was a close-run thing with Tanworth falling just four runs short of Exhall's 184 total.
Exhall visit Twyning on Saturday (2pm start).
