IN response to M Burcher's letter (You Say, Tuesday, May 6) regarding the George Cowley Experience, I would like to say that like him/her, I am puzzled!
Due to all the hype about this band, I went along to see for myself what it was all about.
Being a music buff, I was looking forward to a night of good music.
How disappointing. Instead of a good quality performance from local musicians, we were presented with a pretentious middle-aged man fronting the band, who must think he is a cross between Jasper Carrott and Leonard Cohen.
I'm sure the George Cowley Experience believe themselves to be wonderful, but I suspect a lot of people are laughing at them.
Like M Burcher, I question the motives of this band, and am suspicious as to how they have gained the publicity and recognition they richly do not deserve.
So come on, John Phillpott, give us music lovers some credit for good taste!
