A BLACKWELL animal sanctuary is facing closure and hundreds of animals could be put down if it cannot raise £40,000 in two months.
Hillfields Animal Sanctuary, on Greenhill, is holding a open day on Sunday, May 25 between noon and 4pm to try and raise some of the cash to keep it open.
The animal sanctuary has chickens, sheep, goats, a cow, pot-bellied pigs, feral cats, turkeys and rabbits which will all be put-down, if the owner, Lyn Hill cannot find the £40,000.
The sanctuary is in financial dire straits due to ownership problems.
Most of the animals come from cruelty cases and some have been dumped. The majority are so old they could not be re-homed and would have to be put down. There is a 25-year-old cow and most of the goats are older than 15-years-old.
Lyn is appealing to the people of Bromsgrove to help her raise the money in time.
She said: "I just hope and pray we find the money. We are the last resort when it comes to animals, if we closed the animals would die."
Lyn adds: "My dream for the sanctuary was to expand and be able to take more animals but now we're struggling just to keep afloat."
There will be stalls, food, face painting, and bric-a-brac on the day. The open day will cost 50p for children and £1 for adults.
