AN adventurous mother and daughter duo are saddling up for the charity ride of their life.
Annie, aged 51, and Lizzy Allington, 22, are heading to the Canadian Rocky Mountains in August to raise cash for the Guide Dogs for the Blind Association.
The pioneer style trail will be carried out on horseback, through 90km of wilderness and across breathtaking terrain. Evenings will be spent under the stars and packhorses will carry only essential supplies for the ten-day trek.
Annie and Lizzy, from Cofton Hackett, are experienced riders, having three horses at Burcot, but endurance training is already underway to stave off the threat of saddle sores.
The Oakfield Drive residents, who are both West Midlands police officers, will foot travel costs but hope to collect £3,000 in sponsorship.
Lizzy, a former Waseley Hills High School student, said: "Guide Dogs for the Blind is an excellent cause, which we hope people will be keen to support. I know the trail won't be easy, conditions will be hot and humid and we are going to be in the saddle for many hours at a time, but it's certain to be an experience of a lifetime."
Both mother and daughter are now busy dishing out sponsorship forms to friends and family, and hosting a musical money-spinner later this month. If you would like to sponsor the Allingtons call Lizzy on 07870 213665.
