BREAST-feeding mums are guaranteed a warm welcome in the town, thanks to the National Childbirth Trust.
The trust has compiled a leaflet to give mums a rundown of places they can breast-feed as part of National Breast-Feeding week. McDonalds, Brewsters and Lily Langtree's caf are three of the friendly places in Bromsgrove where mums can feel happy to feed their babies.
The Bromsgrove and Redditch branch of the National Childbirth Trust has launched its 'You can do it here!' campaign to make mums aware of which shops, restaurants and cafes have a breast-feeding policy.
The trust states the importance of breast-feeding to keep babies healthy - it can protect them from a variety of illnesses later in life. It also says how important it is to feed babies when they ask for it, as their stomachs are very small and breast milk is digested very quickly.
Caroline Payne, the co-ordinator for infant-feeding, said: "Mothers who breast-feed are doing the very best for their baby and need to be welcomed and encouraged to feed while they are out and about with their babies.
"The establishments covered in this guide are helping to get this message across and showing a real commitment to families."
Mums and babies must be relaxed and comfortable for breast-feeding. Mums can get thirsty when they are breast-feeding so the leaflet recommends staff offer them a glass of water.
The leaflets are available from GPs surgeries, Bromsgrove Library, Mothercare, health visitors and midwives. Stickers will be displayed in the windows of organisations that are breast-feeding friendly.
l This week the Government announced that all new mothers should breast-feed their babies for six months before introducing solid foods.
