PLANS for a new £200,000 Guides and Scouts joint headquarters have been revealed.
Residents gathered at the town hall last week for two meetings which outlined the proposals for a joint base for the huge community of Alcester Guides and Scouts.
The groups said they were planning to start the building work by spring or summer 2004 after they had an offer of a lease on a plot of land belonging to Moorfields Trust.
They gained planning permission last year.
But the next priority is raising money - with more than 200 members of the Guide Association, along with 200 Scouts and about 50 adult leaders, the groups are confident.
The snag could be the lack of lottery funding because the groups do not fit in a priority category and so are not likely to receive support from the lottery.
So now the groups are looking to anyone concerned to dip into their pockets and help the worthy cause.
A fund-raising committee has also been set up to help the cause.
Anyone who would like to make a donation, provide sponsorship or even know of other suitable sources of funding can call Gill Laughlin on 778539.
