THE first meeting on Monday of the newly-elected Tenbury Town Council got off to a positive start when outgoing mayor, Councillor Keith Griffiths, praised the hard work and dedication of former councillor Margaret Austin, who lost her seat on the council by 27 votes.
New mayor, Councillor Janice Gluyas, welcomed new councillors Steve Bowkett, Diann Dorrell, Philip Grove and John Watt to the town council.
Co-options for the two St Michael's vacancies on the council are to be advertised in the local press and by posters around town.
Two applications have already been received and will be considered with those received by June 2.
First-time councillor John Watt was elected deputy mayor, defeating Councillor Maureen Pardoe by one vote. He was born and brought up and educated in Tenbury Wells.
