ABBERLEY Primary School is one of only six per cent of schools in the UK to have won a School Achievement Award three times in a row.
The national award scheme was set up to recognise and reward staff who have improved the performance of pupils in national tests. Abberley has received an award every year since the scheme started. The school receives a cash sum which is shared between all staff, including support workers like the cleaner and dinner ladies.
Head teacher Jenny Taylor said: "We are thrilled to be a three times winner and we feel that everyone who works at the school plays a part in our success. We're a very happy team and that creates a great atmosphere for the children in all the classrooms."
The rural school currently has 87 children in four classes and has proved so popular that it has been given the go ahead to expand to take 105 children.
Plans for a new classroom have been approved and an extension to house a new computer suite and library is almost finished. Abberley was nominated for the award by the Worcestershire's Education Authority.
