ROWING: Stourport Boat Club's juniors were out in force on Sunday at Shrewsbury Regatta to gather an impressive amount of silverware.
The weekend had got off to a good start with Jess Danby and Dan Brighton taking J14 single event honours on Saturday.
Rupert Conway and Ashley Price beat Runcorn in a thrilling J16 double final to add to the trophies the next day.
Brighton overcame strong opposition from Burton Leander in the J14 single final and brother Matt made light of the Runcorn sculler in his J14 final.
M Brighton was joined by Chris Haywood in the J14 doubles and together they rose above the partisan crowd to convincingly beat the home crew.
Stourport's strength in depth was in evidence as the girls' J13 quad, comprising Emma Perkins, Katie Haywood, Nicola Price and Harriet Conway with Sam Mayer at cox, breezed through the enclosure to take the event.
The mixed J12 quad of Perkins, Josh Barrington, M Brighton and Chris Haywood romped home to complete an eight-win weekend.
Stourport's senior season gathered pace with a further six wins in Shropshire.
Smokey Hart's train-hard-but-race-easy philosophy continued to pay dividends with two wins on Saturday and one on Sunday in the veteran sculls events.
Stuart Winter, in the Bewdley and Stourport composite veteran B coxed four, added to his Evesham win by beating Grosvenor at the last stage.
Chris Bird and Jeremy Stubs steered to a deserved victory in the final of the senior two event but the race of the day went to the ladies' senior three eight.
After losing to Queens College on Saturday, the Sunday draw against the same crew looked challenging.
But recent coaching by Steve Downes and Mark Betson paid off and the ladies made no mistake at the second time of asking with style and determination.
