TRAMPOLINING: Former Wyre Forest gymnast Claire Ruddock has been named sportswoman of the year at Sheffield Hallam University.
The 21-year-old, who is in her final year studying sports science, went to Bewdley High and then King Charles I High's sixth form.
Ruddock has captained the university's trampoline club for the past year, working hard organising and participating in competitions throughout the year as well as coaching.
She was awarded the honour at a dinner for more than 1,000 students and will continue her studies next year in her bid to eventually teach physical education.
Ruddock, also a keen netballer and half-marathon runner, was a Wyre Forest Gymnastic School member while in Kidderminster, taking exams to coach the younger children.
