TENNIS: Bewdley Daytimers were well deserved runners-up in the Malvern Winter Indoor League.
The ladies team from Bewdley Tennis Club was selected from a large squad of players of differing ability.
Meanwhile, Lesley Reeve Parker and John Phillips successfully defended their veteran mixed doubles title at the weekend.
They defeated 2001 holders Penny Marchant and Cliff Brewer in a tight final after 12 couples battled out a round-robin competition.
The rain held off until the finals but did not dampen the players' enthusiasm as a good standard of tennis was on display.
Club president Lily Doley presented the champions' cup.
