VALE folk and visitors are being urged to flock to Evesham's Workman Gardens at the end of this month for a medieval festival and continental market.
On Saturday, May 31 and Sunday, June 1 the Bengeworth side of town is set to take on a colourful, medieval atmosphere with lots of fun for all the family, organised by the traders.
For the first time a living history village will be staged. Also battle re-enactments, archery, a medieval tavern with traditional brews, a mini children's fairground, trade stalls, owls, jesters and minstrels will be on offer in the gardens. For history lovers there will be a series of pictorial exhibitions under colourful gazebos giving a glimpse of Evesham through the ages.
Nearby and also on the gardens, will be a large continental market with an international flavour with stalls and goods from Europe, North Africa and the Far East.
In Port Street itself there will be Morris dancers, street entertainers and good pub grub available.
l Bengeworth Traders were not given permission by Wychavon District Council to hold a collection for the Evesham Hospital, despite support from Evesham Town Council, because their application went in too late. Charity organisations that wish to take a pitch at no charge, however, can do so subject to space.
