UNIVERSITY College Worcester is the venue for a special Cricket Roadshow tomorrow.

The roadshow, organised by the England and Wales Cricket Board, is open to all cricket lovers but is aimed at getting more people to watch the game at Test and county level.

There will be a host of exciting things to do and see including bowling speed machines, catching activities, video presentations and loads of information about Worcestershire County Cricket Club.

Representatives from the County will be in attendance to answer any questions about cricketing activities at New Road.

The show is part of a nationwide roadshow programme, which plans to take the joys of cricket to every corner of the country.

The three-year ECB programme is designed to enthuse the public into watching cricket and become fans of both the national team but more importantly, their local County team.

In the past, the ECB Road Show has concentrated on development and has been aimed at youngsters and putting a cricket bat into someone's hand. Now it plans to appeal to a wider audience, particularly the 16-34 years age bracket.

It's one of several initiatives designed to lure fans back to the sport, including the new Twenty20 competition which starts next month.

Spokesman Steve Paddock said: "They are trying to re-invigorate people's interest in cricket as part of an overall programme to try and make the sport more attractive for people to come back into the grounds."

The roadshow will be set up in a truck in the sports field area next to the main UCW entrance in Henwick Road. It runs from 10.45am until 5pm.
