GARDEN WALKABOUT: This year's garden walkabout will be the 13th and the second under the banner of Cancer Research UK which is the amalgamation of the Imperial Cancer Research fund and Cancer Research now forming the largest charity in Europe. While the two charities raise millions for the struggle this event in Alcester has produced more than £15,000.
The walkabout takes place through something over 20 gardens centred on St Nicholas Church and the Town Hall and is easy to follow and concentrated into a reasonably short distance. To get round takes about two hours easy walking and the tickets are on sale from noon to 5pm at which time speed is needed to complete the course before the 6pm closing.
As usual there will be teas and cakes this time in the hall and garden of the Baptist Church and organisers hope to have their plant stall open, stocked with a variety of plants donated by local nurseries.
Tickets will be on sale at the top of Maltmill Lane at the rear of St Nicholas Church and will cost £3. Children accompanied free up to the age of 11.
