A PERSHORE woman is helping to bring epilepsy 'Out in the Open' by organising a sponsored walk.
Alison Jackson is arranging the walk as part of a national fund-raising event for Epilepsy Action. Alison suffers from the condition herself, having been first diagnosed when she was 18.
Ms Jackson said: "I think people will support this fund-raiser because they know what a good cause it is for. There are about 20 people taking part so far and we are hoping to raise around £200."
Pershore's 'Out in the Open' walk will be held on Sunday at 2.30pm. It will leave from Pershore car park and go along Gigbridge Lane across the fields, arriving back at Pershore. The route is approximately five miles.
This is the 11th year the 'Out in the Open' walks have taken place with more than £550,000 being raised since 1992. The event is just one of the many activities happening throughout the country to launch National Epilepsy Week.
One in 133 people in this country suffer from epilepsy and Epilepsy Action is working towards changing the attitudes and misconceptions surrounding this condition. Money raised will also help fund research and vital services run by the charity.
