LIKE M Burcher, I have been wondering what the George Cowley Experience is all about.

They seem to work tirelessly to promote local issues such as litter, asylum seekers, keeping music live and are making the thoughtful and gentle George Cowley into something of a folk hero.

More widely, they have paid homage to Bob Dylan and found time to go on a European tour.

Their gigs and CD sales have helped raise a lot of money for Comic Relief.

So what does motivate this unique line-up? Do they do it for the beer, do they crave publicity, have they got too much spare time... or could there be a more altruistic reason for all this creativity?
