LIZ Smith's political agent (You Say, Saturday, May 10) ignored the absence of a Labour candidate and suggests people in Claines made their election judgement solely through a fear that the Conservative candidate couldn't be trusted.
Bill Elsy, who stood for the Conservatives, is a friend who I know to be a hard-working man. Liz Smith also knows him and therefore she must have respect for his integrity.
As the county councillor for Claines, I work for the good of the community with city councillors and local people, whatever their political persuasions.
I therefore ask Liz to publicly disassociate herself from her agent's letter and, in doing so, maintain our working relationships.
ANDREW ROBERTS,
County Councillor.
