A SUDDEN-DEATH shoot-out ended successfully for Mark Hampton who has earned a place in Great Britain's team for the European Junior Shooting Championships.
The Offenham youngster faced a nail-biting climax at the selection shoot in East Yorkshire.
Facing the challenge of Carl Exton for the third and final place, Hampton matched his opponent's score of 23/25.
A single barrel was next with the first to miss eliminated and it was the Vale marksman who found the second target to claim his GB slot.
Hampton picked up three silver medals at last year's Down the Line World Championships before turning his talents to the much harder disciplines of Olympic Trap and Universal Trench.
However, the change to Trap shooting didn't faze the youngster and he posted a qualifying score of 189/200 in Universal Trench.
That effort acted as a catalyst for his latest success that will see Hampton shooting for more glory in Antibes, southern France, later this month.
