NATIONAL Wildlife Week will be celebrated in style with an arts extravaganza in Kidderminster.

Worcestershire Wildlife Trust's Wyre Forest group has organised an art exhibition and piano concert to raise money for the new Wildlife Education Centre at Lower Smite Farm in Hindlip, Worcester.

Entitled Visions of Nature, the exhibition is on display at Kidderminster Library gallery until May 31.

It features the work of esteemed Worcestershire artists Roderick Flello Edwards, Rosemary Hatton, Lizzie Harper and Michael Salt.

Mr Edwards, who lives in Stourport, has had work exhibited across the Midlands and now lectures in interior design. Roderick Edwards with his work of a snow tiger which will be on display at Kidderminster library.

His colleague, Michael Salt, concentrates on oil painting and also exhibits in the region.

Lizzie Harper comes from Hay on Wye and uses several media, including pen and ink and acrylics.

Her work, which has previously been used in publishing, interpretation and information illustrations, will be exhibited alongside Kidderminster's Rosemary Hatton.

Visions of Nature is Mrs Hatton's second exhibition for the trust.

Previous exhibitions of her work have been held in Birmingham, Hagley and Ludlow.

The library gallery will also host the Maytime Concert of Piano Music at 7.30pm on May 29.

Four concert pianists from the Midland Gershwin Mayerl Society are set to perform a selection of classical and popular pieces for two and four hands.

The musicians include Michael Jones, Janine Smith and her 14-year-old pupil Georgi Ivanov.

They will be accompanied by Iron Bridge Gorge Museum's actor and pianist, Guy Rowland, who will narrate Prokofiev's famous piece, Peter and the Wolf.

Georgi Ivanov moved to Dudley from Bulgaria in 1990 and will play Khachaturian's Toccata.

Other pieces on the show's programme include Mayerl's Forgotten Forest, Railroad Rhythm and Beetle in a Bottle.

Mr Rowland, who is also musical director of the recently formed Firman Dance Orchestra, will perform Grasshopper Dance, Dickie Bird Hop and Squirrel Dance.
