ONE of the youngest players in the H20 Plumbing and Heating Division 3B won the Novice Hand-icap tournament at Evesham High School.
Daniel Brown (Evesham Swifts) had to give Craig Young (SDM Ravens) three points a game in the semi-final but he came through 8-11, 11-8, 11-9, 11-8 to meet Blackm-inster Bullets' Matt Ross in the final.
Ross had a titanic battle in his semi-final coming from two sets down to beat fellow scratch opponent Katie Sellick (Evesham Swallows) 8-11, 8-11, 11-8, 12-10, 11-8.
Brown had a two-point start in the final but Ross took a 2-1 lead winning 11-9, 11-13, 11-8. Brown, though, fought back to take the trophy 3-2 with wins in the final two sets 11-5, 11-6.
In a consolation event for first match losers, Littleton Monkeys' Ross Pankhurst (+1) overcame Amy Moffat (SDM Lionesses) 11-2, 10-12, 11-7, 11-6 in the final.
