INKBERROW closed the gap on Stratford B at the top in Division One of the Prudden Road Surfacing League after their 4-0 thrashing of Chipping Campden A.
With the Stratford side being held to a draw and last year's South Warw-ickshire Area champions Studley enjoying an easy victory, a three-way fight is already developing for the championship.
Inkberrow captain Adam Hill led the way with straight sets victories over Campden's Ken Dawson and Jamie Davis 6-1, 6-4 and then David Tonrow and Mark Kirkbride 6-0,6-4.
Teammates Graeme Rankin and Jon Bradshaw dropped only eight games in defeating Tonrow and Kirkbride 6-0, 6-1 and Dawson and Davis 6-2, 7-5.
League leaders Stratford could only manage a 2-2 draw against sister side Stratford C.
They began well as Jim Harris and Tim Page overcame the C team's Callum Bailey and Rob Slatter but only after three sets 1-6, 6-3, 6-3.
Meanwhile, Simon West and Lawrence Dingley lost out to their C team rivals club coach Simon Roach and Steve Turner 6-2, 6-1.
After the change, West and Dingley were again beaten, this time by Bailey and Slatter 6-4, 6-2.
It was left to Harris and Page to keep Stratford B at the top of the league with a 7-5, 6-0 victory over Roach and Turner.
Last year's champions Studley A kept up their challenge with a 4-0 win over Tanworth A in a match that was closer than the final score would suggest.
Clive Dalton and John White began well beating Tanworth's Phil Wells and Nick Danks in straight sets 6-4, 6-3.
They then took three sets to beat Ken Jones and Ian Phillips 0-6, 6-3, 6-1.
Dave Innes and Gary Jackson also had to fight hard to beat Jones and Phillips 7-5, 6-1 and then Wells and Danks 7-5, 6-3.
After two weeks of Division For action the table is beginning to take shape.
Shipston's 4-0 defeat of FISSC B leaves them at the summit with a 100 per cent record.
Stratford E are their closest rivals after overcoming Littleton C 4-0.
Ilmington claimed their first win with a 3-1 defeat of Bidford to move into mid-table above their victims, FISSC and Littleton who have all yet to taste success.
