I AM writing to deplore the non re-election of Sir Timothy Harford to South Littleton Parish Council. Some people have quite remarkably short memories!
A few years ago the funds of Honeybourne, Offenham, South Littleton and Wickhamford Parish Councils, together with monies from Offenham Village School, went missing. It was thanks to the dedication, skill and quiet but dogged determination of Timothy and Colonel Tony Ward, the then chairman of Offenham Parish Council, that these funds were restored, virtually intact, to their respective bodies. There was no fluster or bombast about what they did. They served us well and there was no trace of self-congratulation afterwards.
Sir Timothy is a gentleman and as such as a parish councillor always did his best to act in what he considered was the best interests of South Littleton. Recently as chairman, he usually had the support of all his fellow councillors, except one. Now that he is no longer a member I hope he will take some comfort that there are still plenty of people on South Littleton Parish Council that will maintain the decent and civilised values he stands for.
I will do my very best to support those particular people when I can .
TOM BEAN, Worcestershire County Councillor, The Littletons Division.
