Smears of blood found in the boot of a Vauxhall Vectra used in a lorry hijacking matched that of the kidnapped lorry driver, Worcester Crown Court was told.

The prosecution alleges that 57-year-old Alan Jones was flagged down by bogus police as he drove a £171,000 load of computers from Evesham.Dot.Com. on the M5 on Friday, June 21 last year.

He was forced from his cab at gunpoint, tied up and bundled into the boot of the Vectra. He was released nearly three hours later on the M4 near Swindon.

Forensic scientist Catherine Carter, who examined the Vectra's boot flooring said the blood matched the DNA profile of Mr Jones. The probability of a similar match was one in a billion.

Nine men have denied conspiracy to rob Mr Jones of his load and conspiracy to kidnap him.

They are: Terence Devine, aged 38, of Coronation Road, Walsall Wood, Walsall, Philip Price, 47, of West Road, Wellington, brothers Aaron Johnson, 19, and Simon Johnson, 21, and their father Frederick Johnson, 43, all of Culmington Drive, Stirchley, Andrew Currie, 34, of Bourneside Drive, Brookside, Terence Cutler, 33, of Ellis Peters Drive, Philip Dolphin, 40, of Bishopsdale, and Stephen Booth, 39, of Hurleybrook Way, Leegomery, all Telford. Cutler and Price also deny possession of a firearm during a robbery.

Cutler and Simon Johnson also deny the false imprisonment of another man on in December 2001, and possession of a firearm with intent to commit false imprisonment.

The trial continues.
