The popular Bands in the Park series is to go ahead despite a recent vandal attack.
Damage caused to the bandstand at Priory Park will not delay the start of the concert programme by some of the best bands in the area.
The season begins with a performance by Muller Cleobury Mortimer Band on Sunday and continues until the middle of September.
A different band will play every Sunday, from 2.30pm to 4.30pm, with the only exception being on June 8, when there will be a religious festival in the park.
The Brass in the Park series has long been a feature of summer in Malvern. In fact, there was an outcry several years ago when Malvern Hills District Council ceased funding the programme.
However, Malvern Town Council stepped into the breach and for the last few years has been picking up the bill. This year is no exception, with the council putting up £5,700 to stage the event. Malvern Civic Society has also made a contribution.
Featured bands include the Band of the Gloucester Constabulary, Cinderford Band and the Celebration Reed and Brass Band. Closer to home, Malvern Hills District Brass Band will be making not one but two appearances, while the Chase High School Band ends the season on September 14.
The recent vandal attack on the bandstand caused damage put at several thousand pounds. One section of iron railing was ripped out and the ceiling damaged. Replacing the ironwork will take months rather than weeks, but district council workers have made the bandstand safe for performers.
