MALVERN Ladies played Burlish Olympic in the Hospital Cup final at Brintons ground on Sunday and a good performance saw them collect their second cup of the season.
MALVERN LADIES FC 4, BURLISH OLYMPIC 1
Malvern started brightly and only two good saves by the Burlish keeper in the first two minutes kept Malvern out. In the tenth minute a corner from Flick Slater was headed just wide by Emily Prosser.
In the 21st minute Burlish opened the scoring after a through ball was fired home by the Burlish striker against the run of play.
Three minutes later a 30 yard free kick from Flick Slater just cleared the bar. In the 26th minute the scores were level after a cross from Emily Prosser was slotted home by Emma Hinchcliffe.
Just before half time a 25 yard left foot shot by Emily Prosser was spilled by the Burlish keeper and dropped over the goal line. Two minutes into injury time in the first half Malvern goalkeeper Jenny Shail pulled off an outstanding point blank save.
The second half took on the same style as the first half with Malvern doing most off the attacking with good work from Tracey Evans and Sarah Cartridge in midfield. In the 47th minute a shot from Sam Shail was cleared off the line.
Minutes later a through ball from Emma Hinchcliffe was flicked on by Emily Prosser and calmly placed beyond the advancing keeper by Sam Shail to make it 3-1.
Burlish started to attack more and good defending by Heidi Barlow and Katrin Hoffman kept the forwards at bay. In the 61st minute a 40-yard free kick from Flick Slater was well saved by the Burlish keeper. A minute later Malvern got their fourth goal when Emily Prosser shot into the bottom right hand corner before a fine interception from Kate Boulton thwarted another Burlish attack.
Katrin Hoffman was player of the match after an excellent game for Malvern Ladies, who are sponsored by First Floor Flooring.
