EARLY music ensemble, the Walton Consort will be giving a performance of music for voices and viols on Sunday at Storridge Village Hall.

The concert, hosted by the Cradley Singers, will be directed by Peter Syrus, an authority on early music and lecturer at the Royal Northern College of Music.

The music being performed will be studied at a day-long workshop preceding the 6pm concert.

The Walton Consort is made up of around a dozen viol players and singers who specialise in singing large-scale sacred works from the Renaissance, using viols to replace missing voices and creating a rich, intense sound.

Admission is free, although there will be a retiring collection to cover costs and for the County Air Ambulance.

The village hall is on the A4103 Worcester/Hereford road, at the junction with the Malvern road.
