E W Carr needs to stop reading certain national tabloids if he thinks that Ahmed Raza is the rule rather than the exception (You Say, Friday, May 9).
Many of the so-called immigrant population have been here for several generations - if that doesn't qualify them as British, then I don't know what does.
To suggest that they contribute nothing to this country is ignorant in the extreme.
Why would Enoch Powell have brought over so many immigrants in the 1950s if not to work in our understaffed health service?
Who is sustaining what remains of the country's agricultural industry by providing cheap labour?
Perhaps if E V Carr were to actually get to know some non-white people, he would not be so eager to tar everyone with the same brush.
