fundraisers are to auction off signed celebrity memorabilia for charity.

Holland Funeral Service, in Barnards Green, has been trying to get a mile of ribbon signed as part of the Macmillan Cancer Relief Miles Challenge.

Now it wants to boost funds further by holding a "silent auction". Postal bids are being encouraged for lots including a ribbon signed by actors who have visited the Malvern Theatres, items signed by players at Worcestershire County Cricket Club, a ribbon signed by Gloucester Rugby club, an autographed football from Birmingham City FC and a signed programme from Tottenham Hotspur FC.

Organiser Hilary Al Rasheed said: "We've got three-quarters of a mile of ribbon signed and three quarters of a mile of coins to go with it so it's impossible to say how much we've raised yet."

Anyone wanting to bid for the items should send their details with the amount they are willing to pay to Hilary Al Rasheed, Holland Funeral Services, 71 Barnards Green Road, Malvern, WR14 3LS by Thursday, May 22.

Anyone wanting to sign some of the remaining ribbon and make a contribution, should visit Barnards Green Post Office, Hollywood Hair, Hunts Florists, Smiles Hair Studio, Just So, The Foresters Arms, EW Commercial Publications or Malvern Beauty Clinic. The ribbon and coins will be laid out on Barnards Green roundabout on Friday, May 23, from 10.30am.
