WEST Malvern lost the toss at Kidderminster in a Crusader Worcestershire League Division Six match and were asked to bat.

The new ball, greasy conditions and accurate bowling reduced the visitors to 22-3 in the seventh over. Teenager Joseph Little then helped to stabilise the innings with 26 valuable runs.

Brian Pleass and Roy Blackshaw shared a stand of 61 runs, then Joseph Hemmings and Asa Smith contributed well crafted runs to help take the innings total to 197-7 after 44 overs, one over being lost to rain. Brian Pleass batted through the innings for 81no.

Kidderminster's reply was hampered by heavy rain showers causing several interruptions to play. Matthew Cross constrained the Chester Road batsmen, taking three wickets for just 27 runs in his 12 overs. When rain finally stopped play Kidderminster had compiled 118 runs in 28 overs, with Cadwalladera having just completed a well made 50.

The result of the game was decided on respective run rates, as more than 25 overs of the second innings had been bowled. West Malvern getting the winning draw.
