BROMYARD'S new mayor Pearl Briggs has been officially installed into her office.
Coun Briggs was unanimously elected on Monday at the first full meeting of Bromyard and Winslow Town Council following the recent local elections.
She told her fellow councillors: "It's a great honour to be elected to serve Bromyard and Winslow as mayor. It's a challenge and one I accept."
Coun Briggs, who was instrumental in the establishment of the town's skate park, stressed that her time in office would be spent trying to get younger people in Bromyard involved with their community.
"Many of our clubs and organisations are made up of mature people and we need to get input from youngsters," she said.
She said she would be looking into setting up a youth council and into establishing a post of "junior mayor".
John Lane was voted in as deputy mayor, a post vacated by Coun Briggs, beating other nominees Jonathon Lester and Richard James.
The council voted to keep the mayoral allowance at £1,200 a year, with an option for the mayor to apply for more funds if an event was deemed to be beneficial to the town.
